Emergency dental FAQ

  • Yes. If you are experiencing severe pain, we can arrange an emergency wisdom tooth removal appointment.

  • Depending on your dental emergency, there are different ways to provide relief from home. Generally, we recommend taking over-the-counter pain relief medicine until you can make an emergency appointment at Valley Dental. You can apply a cold pack on the outside of your cheek near the affected area and rinse your mouth with warm, salt water.

  • An avulsed tooth (otherwise known as a broken or knocked-out tooth) must be fixed by a dentist. We suggest making an urgent appointment at Valley Dental as we have under one hour to try and keep your tooth alive. If you find yourself in this situation, follow these steps:

    1. Avoid contact with the tooth's root (the part embedded in your gums). Only touch the top of the tooth (the crown).

    2. Gently clean the tooth with milk or water

    3. Try to put the tooth back into your mouth. If this is not possible, place the tooth in a container of milk, the pocket of your cheek or wrap it in some glad wrap.

  • Valley Dental offers an after-hours emergency dental concierge service if required. If you are experiencing severe pain or dental trauma, please call us immediately on our after-hours contact.

We understand that dental emergencies can occur. At Valley Dental we're pleased to provide same-day emergency appointments. To address any urgent concerns, call our practice, and one of our team members will promptly assist you.
